Relying On A Birthday Reminder

By Harold Anderson

If you are one of those people who have a certain blind spot when it comes to remembering important or special dates, like birthdays and anniversaries and the like, then you may have made some people very upset over the years. All they needed was a little happy birthday card, but all you needed was a birthday reminder.

There are a lot of little tricks that people have used over the years to try and remember all those occasions. Whether they are scribbling notes on a calendar or leaving post-it notes around the house, none of them really seem to help. Even having other people remind them daily doesn't seem to do it.

These are traditional birthday reminders and people have been trying to make them work for years. However, in a world with all kinds of great new technology, we should be able to devise a more reliable and sure way to remind us it's time to go searching for a happy birthday card.

These days there are a range of online services that provide a means to receive birthday reminders. Since we already habitually check our email and visit websites, these services are a great way to integrate those birthday reminders into our daily routines. Then we might actually pay attention to them.

These online systems will send out birthday reminders through email, by phone, or through RSS feeds. We have developed a routine that involves checking these things every day, so if the reminders are slipped into the middle of it, we'll see it and have the time to give the occasion a little more thought. If there is enough time you may even be able to do more than just send a happy birthday card.

There is a lot more convenience here than with traditional reminders. For example, if you set up specific intervals on your reminders you will be able to receive them on a regular basis until the event occurs. This will give you more time to plan and prepare and make sure things go just right.

If you want, you can even set up a calendar system on a website and invite your friends to go and put their own birthdays on there for you. Then you don't have to go through the trouble of asking people about their birthdays and admitting that you don't know when they are in the first place.

If you can keep track of and organize your birthday reminders, you won't ever have to be "that guy." You won't have to be the one that has to be told time and time again that they better go out and buy a happy birthday card. Instead, you'll be "that guy" who can be counted on for special occasions. - 31406
